The field course herpetology will serve as an in-depth introduction to field herpetology with a focus on tropical herpetology. Students will learn field techniques for collecting amphibians and reptiles, sampling tissues for molecular studies, swabbing (chytrid fungus), preserving, recording anuran calls, photographing, identifying and monitoring amphibians and reptiles in the tropics, and how to manage and analyze field data. Class will occur in a field laboratory and will consist on daily lectures - which will cover special topics that pertain to the tropics, as well as manipulative experiments. As an example, the destination in 2012 was Guyana.


The field course of ecology deals with the broad knowledge of geology, biogeography, animal and plant systematics, ...

Destinations change, but examples of previous destinations are Greece, Spain, and Canary Islands.
